MCCD graduates added $7 billion to the state economy

The true worth of education has been part of an ongoing statewide discussion about how to best balance the state’s budget.

The Phoenix Business Journal reports that in a recent study, Economic Modeling Specialists International found that community colleges are hugely important to the state: students who graduated from Maricopa Community Colleges have created $7.3 billion for the Arizona economy in 2013–2014 alone.

The study also calculated that all of Arizona’s community colleges are responsible for $14.5 billion in 2013–2014, which is more than a twentieth of the state’s gross state product.
