A common misconception about working out is that it is simply for looks. Exercise has far greater benefits than what meets the eye and Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is trying to get this message across loud and clear. Studies have shown that students who get involved in exercise actually tend to have better grades as a result.

"What many students don't realize is that exercising can really help boost your life in all aspects such as school, health and even interpersonal relationships," said Lyle Bartelt, Manager of Fitness and Wellness at EMCC.

Spring 2014 Season in Women's Golf

Women's Golf

One of the sports offered here at EMCC is Women's Golf. The sport has been offered for more than four years. Stefan Almanza has been the head coach of the Mountain Lions Women’s Golf Team since spring 2013.

The golf season lasts from February to April. Almanza has had high hopes for the program and was interviewed during the 2014 season, "From a competitive standpoint this season, one member is ranked 3rd in her division and plays in every tournament. We have two great women on our team but we are looking to add two more to the roster."

“Gay”, “straight”, “bisexual”, and “cross-gender” are all words that were once created as a way to categorize individuals. These terms are a way to separate those who are seen to be different, but the truth is that they are simply human beings.

At Estrella Community College (EMCC), fellow Lions enforce common courtesy by following the old saying “treat people the way you want to be treated” and respecting the individuality among students and staff.

EMCC Cross-Country Teams

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is home to a driven athletic program. It includes the Women’s Cross-Country team, which requires its members to be dedicated. The team is part of the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference as well as the Region 1 of the National Junior College Athletic Association.

The Cross-Country team began in August of 2010 and has been successful ever since. This team offers students an opportunity to train and compete in long-distance running at EMCC.
