New Arizona Driver Licenses Don’t Meet Federal Regulations

Arizona’s new driver license cards are short of the federal government’s 31 requirements for IDs, and are not recognized by the Department of Homeland Security.

Arizona is not alone—the IDs of American Samoa, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and New York were also short of all the requirements.

If the cards are not changed quickly, Homeland Security will eventually move to the Phase 4 of its enforcement plan and not allow the IDs to be used to board commercial planes.
